Sender: Claire Allen [callen@cochrane.org] Subject: TSC elected to the Cochrane Collaboration Steering Group Please note, and forward to the members of your entity, that Dymphna Hermans has been elected to represent Trials Search Co-ordinators on the Cochrane Collaboration Steering Group, effective immediately - congratulations, Dymphna! The length of Dymphna's term of office (as with other CCSG members) is dependent on the results of the current review of the Steering Group. Thanks to Daisy Gregory, who checked my counting of the votes. Sender: Gail Higgins [GailH2@chw.edu.au] Subject: CENTRAL review Dear All, As you are all aware, the Steering Group appointed a group in late 2005 to undertake a review of CENTRAL. Members of that group (which is, for the purpose of the remit, called the CENTRAL Vision Group (CVG)) are: Gerd Antes, Director, German Cochrane Centre Adrian Grant, Coordinating Editor, Incontinence Group Gail Higgins, Trials Search Coordinator, Renal Group Karen Robinson, Editor, Methodology Review Group Our first teleconference as a group took place on December 6 2005. Since then we have completed a remit which was approved by the Cochrane Collaboration Steering Group (CCSG) Executive Group at their meeting on January 10 2006. This remit has been posted on the Collaboration’s website at http://www.cochrane.org/admin/structure.htm. Our remit involves developing a strategic plan for the future of CENTRAL, as such widespread consultation with all interested parties and stakeholders is essential and our top priority. We are currently involved in finalising the practicalities of our workplan and developing mechanisms, such as online surveys, through which this consultation process can be implemented. Our first progress report on this process will be presented to the CCSG at their next meeting at Khon Kaen in late April 2006. We also mentioned that we were applying for formal recognition of the relationship between our group and CMC through the establishment of a satellite.
