Sender: Laura Mellor [LMellor@wiley.co.uk] Subject: Changes to Copy Edit Support Attention all Review Groups! Have you ever considered using Copy Edit Support but been put off by the amount of work involved, or run out of time before the module deadline? If the answer is yes then you may wish to reconsider… We have begun to copy edit reviews in RevMan format within Archie. This means that: • You no longer need to export and import your reviews between RevMan and Word. • You no longer need to transfer copy edits manually from a Word document to the RevMan file. If you already participate in Copy Edit Support, ask us about transferring to Archie. If you haven’t participated recently, or if you have never taken part, why not give us a try? Feedback from the Review Groups who already use Archie for copyediting, suggests that the new way of approving reviews for publication in Archie results in a more even spread of workload than the traditional peak immediately prior to the module deadline. Sender: Janet Crain [JanetC@cadth.ca] Subject: Rx for Change Web Cast: Invitation The Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH), through its COMPUS program, invites you to participate in a web cast on its Rx for Change Interventions Database. This database is available through a joint collaboration of the Canadian Optimal Medication Prescribing and Utilization Service (COMPUS), the Cochrane Effective Practice and Organisation of Care (EPOC), and the Cochrane Consumers and Communication Review Group. Dr. Jeremy Grimshaw, of EPOC, will provide a demonstration of the database, discuss the methodology for development, and answer your questions. There is much research offering new approaches for the clinical aspects of useful and efficient patient care, but changing clinical practice is often based on beliefs, rather than on scientific evidence. Rx for Change provides decision makers with reliable, up-to-date, evidence-based information to assist in the selection of behaviour-change strategies that promote the optimal use of medicines by both practitioners and patients. Discover how this first-in-class tool can help you to find current research evidence to improve drug prescribing practice and use. Register for the Rx for Change Web Cast at www.cadth.ca/index.php/en/compus/rx-forchange December 10, 2007 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. EST, Canada Free of charge Rx for Change is available on the CADTH web site: www.rxforchange.ca/. Questions about the upcoming web cast can be forwarded to rxforchange@cadth.ca. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX C. Sender: Doug Salzwedel [dsalzwed@uottawa.ca] Subject: CHAIN Canada re-launches website CHAIN Canada (www.epoc.uottawa.ca/CHAINCanada) is a network designed to facilitate links between health care professionals, specialists, researchers, educators, managers, librarians and other professionals. CHAIN Canada was established in response to a demand for information about 'who is doing what' in evidence based health care and knowledge transfer. How CHAIN works CHAINs are free to join. As a CHAIN member, you can use the network in many ways including: • Searching the online directories in order to contact other members directly • Finding out about forthcoming events, conferences and research funding opportunities through messages targeted by the CHAIN facilitator • Requesting information from groups of CHAIN members, or publicise your own event • Downloading resources from CHAIN events Current CHAINs • CHAIN 1 focuses on research and evidence-based practice • CHAIN 2 is for people interested in widening participation in learning • CHAIN 3 is a community interested in innovation and improvement • CHAIN 4 is for people involved in cancer care. Members have access to the directories of all CHAINs, not only the one(s) they have joined. This enables networking to occur across as well as within individual CHAINs. More CHAINs will be introduced in future, based on the same principles, but focusing on other fields of interest. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX E.
