This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (intervention). The objectives are as follows:

Primary objective

To investigate the effects of different abortion policies on country level maternal mortality, and abortion-related health outcomes, including abortion-related mortality, physical and mental morbidity, and social and economic well-being.

Secondary objective

To assess possible differences in the effects of different policies on specific vulnerable populations, including minors, refugees, immigrants, sex workers, people with disabilities, and LGBTQIA+ communities. Due to the fact that policies beyond those specifically related to abortion govern whether minors can consent to a termination of pregnancy, we anticipate that this group will feature more than other groups.
