Thematic Groups
The aim is for Thematic Groups to be forward-looking, responsive to the needs of our beneficiaries, and to help us deliver on our four Strategy for Change key principles:
- Collaboration: ensure we maintain the global collaboration that underpins the value of Cochrane reviews;
- Relevance: ensure the evidence we produce addresses priority issues for the world, and so maximizes our impact on global health;
- Integrity: be clear about why we prioritize topics, and avoid becoming subject to vested interests;
- Quality: maintain and extend our reputation for providing the best evidence for global health questions through prioritization and focus.
Evidence Synthesis Units
We have recently announced the launch of Cochrane's first-ever Evidence Synthesis Units. These collaborative, multi-topic research groups will play a crucial role in delivering trusted Cochrane evidence to address major global health challenges.

Review Groups
Cochrane has many Review Groups (CRGs) responsible for the efficient and timely production of high-quality systematic reviews that address the most important research questions for decision makers.
Geographic Groups
Cochrane is a truly global, independent network with members and supporters worldwide. We have official geographic Cochrane Groups in 50+ countries. These Groups represent Cochrane in that country, promote, and support the use of Cochrane evidence in health policy and practice, and support Cochrane's members and supporters who live there.
Fields and Networks
Cochrane has 13 thematic Fields and Networks which focus on dimensions of health care other than a condition or topic - including the setting of care (primary care), the type of consumer (children, older people), or the type of provider (nursing).
Methods Groups
Cochrane has 17 Methods Groups which provide policy advice and space for discussion on the development and implementation of methods used in the preparation of Cochrane Reviews.
